Dr. Andrew Edwards
Dr. Andrew Edwards joined Eye & Laser Physicians in 2010, returning to his hometown of Walla Walla. He graduated Summa Cum Laude from Walla Walla University in 2002. He then went on to earn his Medical Degree in 2006 from Loma Linda University, where he was elected into membership in the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society for outstanding academic and clinical performance.
After medical school, Dr. Edwards returned to the Northwest to complete an internship at Deaconess Medical Center in Spokane, Washington, before completing his ophthalmology residency training at Texas Tech University. While at Texas Tech, he attended the Bay Area Ophthalmology Course at Stanford University, and did an ocular pathology rotation at the University of Wisconsin in Madison. He also served as chief resident and was in the top 10% nationwide in resident surgical volume, including the top 5% of cataract surgical volume. Dr. Edwards has taken the written examination that is part of the certification process for the American Board of Ophthalmology and he scored in the top 2% of those taking the test.
Dr. Edwards is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and his professional interests include small incision cataract surgery, management of macular degeneration, medical management of glaucoma, basic eyelid surgeries, and medical and laser management of diabetic eye disease, among many other things.
Dr. Edwards is very excited to be living back in the Pacific Northwest, and enjoys activities such as traveling, camping, backpacking, hiking, golfing, basketball, running, and reading.
